The Spring/Summer 2015 Accessories Edit

This Season’s Instant Upgrades
The warmer months of the year may not lend themselves to sharp jackets and multiple layers, but you can still individualise any outfit with the right accessories. A considered, seasonally-appropriate choice offers an effortless way of taking your attire up a notch without sacrificing comfort.
Here’s our rundown of the small accents and details you should be considering this spring/summer.
Sunglasses That Suit
An indisputable summertime essential, neglecting to invest in quality shades not only causes your style to suffer, but your eyesight too.
Probably the most boring – but absolutely necessary – part of securing yourself a pair of well-fitting, comfortable sunglasses is identifying the frame shape that best suits your face type. While sunglasses might usually be made ‘one size fits all’, not all of the designs available in stores will complement your individual features, so it pays to read up, before you cough up.
Classic Tortoiseshell
When it comes to colours and materials, tortoiseshell is a timeless classic that will team easily with everything from a floral short-sleeved shirt, chinos and leather sandals combination to a pair of neatly-cut swimming trunks and loose-fitting marl vest.
It also boasts that 1970s-era flair that designers are head over heels for this season – try a round frame if you really want to nail the vintage aesthetic.

Steal His Style : Liam Hemsworth ... Rising Style Star

You know Liam Hemswoth…just maybe not by name. He’s the guy from The Hunger Games (no, the other one).  Miley Cyrus’s betrothed.  Thor’s little brother.  Yep, the-e-e-r-e we go.
While for now he’s known mostly for movies and that whole, “asking Miley Cyrus to marry him before she’s old enough to drink champagne at her own wedding” thing, the Australian actor is thinking about adding to his “designer” to his resume.
Word on the street is that the former Hannah Montana star (sorry, no matter how old she gets, I’m always going to refer to Cyrus that way) was at menswear trade show Project New York this week, telling folks her fiance was thinking about starting up his own line.
The thing is, when I heard this, you’d think I’d be all, <<eye roll>> “Another ‘celebrity’ designer? No-o-o-o thank you.” But no. I’m actually kind of psyched.
For awhile now I’ve been wanting to do an Outfit of the Day piece

How To Wear Colored Denim ???

THERE'S MORE TO JEANS THAN BLUE

True story: I still remember the day my very first boss wore colored denim to the office. I think, actually, that everyone in the office would remember it—at least, we all talked about it. The pants were salmon pink (an ol’ SG favorite), and he wore them with a gray jacket and a white button-down with fine gray stripes.
It was awesome.
Obviously, denim comes in more than just blue. For some reason, though, there’s something super button-pushing about colored denim. It gets attention—even if the rest of the look is super simple (which, in any case, is what I’d recommend.) They’re a brilliant push-pull in getting, and deflecting, attention: When we quizzed my old boss about his pink jeans, he just shrugged and said something super-cool and breezy like, “Relax, guys—I’m just wearing jeans.” Because he was.
Colored denim may look tricky, but it’s surprisingly easy to dress around. Here are three ways to wear it:

OPTION #1 (ENTRY LEVEL)

Watch: Jack Spade, $98 | Belt: H&M, $18 | Jeans: H&M, $35
Shoes: Vans, $55 | Tee: Old Navy, $10 | Jacket: Everlane, $68
 Wear it with:
  • A crisp, white button-down, or…
  • A crisp, white tee
It doesn’t get any easier that this. Heather gray will nearly always work, as will a chambray shirt, but I’ll add that I often find colored denim plus the black

The Athletic/Muscular Man’s Style Guide ... What Should Big Men Wear

Finding Menswear For Big Mass
We’re constantly sold the benefits of leading a healthy, active lifestyle. Regular exercise and eating well – we’re told – will help us look and feel our best. Yes, there’s the minor expense of a gym membership and the odd bulk order of egg whites and protein powder to contend with but, by and large, there are few downsides to staying in shape.
Apart from one major sartorial concern, of course: finding clothes that fit you.
If you’re of a muscular or bulky build, sourcing off-the-peg styles can be more arduous than dragging yourself to a circuit training session at 6am in the morning. Due to menswear’s current fit trends not being suited to larger than average builds, guys who are in better shape than most tend to use the lack of available options on the shop floor as an excuse not to dress as well as they could.
Real talk, guys: you’re not doing yourself justice. What’s the point of spending so much time trying to look good naked when you don’t look that good clothed beforehand?
Although finding garments that fit well may not be as straightforward as it is for your beanpole-y brothers, there’s plenty you can do to up your wardrobe game, while also upping your one-rep max.
General Advice For Athletic Builds
Before we begin, it’s important to remember that there’s no ‘one size fits all’ solution. The muscular men amongst us come in all shapes and sizes owing to the variety of movements and motions involved in different athletic activities.
For example, footballers and cyclists tend to have muscular lower bodies but are often trim and lean up top. Gym rats are typically broad through the chest, shoulders and back but may be comparatively slender through the lower body due to skipping leg day (not cool, bruh). Rugby players, well, they’re just big all over.
With this in mind, here are some general tips and tricks to tackle problems most athletic, bulkier guys face:
Say No To Skinny Fits
And possibly slim-fits, too – super-slim shirts and drainpipe jeans simply weren’t designed with your body type in mind.
Rather than buying into these trend fits, focus on what really works for your individual shape and don’t be afraid to use different cuts on your upper and lower half.
For example, bottom heavy? Tapered legwear is great for achieving the industry’s now standardised streamlined silhouette for those with larger thighs, while others may even find that classic- or straight-cut styles fit like a slim-cut anyway. Up top, you may be shredded rather than huge, which means you could consider sharply tailored shirts, rather than boxy tees and sweatshirts.
It’s down to you to experiment with the various cuts on the market and find what works well for you, and you alone.

Pre-Date Grooming Guide

Your Pre-Date Grooming Guide
Whether it’s a special anniversary, a Valentine’s dinner or you’re finally meeting someone you’ve been chatting up on a dating site, chances are how you look is going to be at the forefront of your mind. You certainly won’t want a rogue spot or bad breath to let you down or knock your confidence.
So here are a few simple steps you can take to ensure that, when it comes to personal grooming at least, you’re always pre-date perfect…
Make Sure Your Breath Is As Fresh As A Daisy
According to a survey conducted by Wakefield Research in America, 86 per cent of people said that bad breath on a first date was a deal breaker, while 58 per cent of women said they’d end a relationship if halitosis was a constant problem. These facts probably explain why nearly three quarters of us feel less confident on a date if we’re worried about our breath.
And while it’s easy to blame a love of spicy food and onions, one of the main causes of bad breath is not cleaning between the teeth properly – you only have to swiftly sniff a piece of dental floss after you’ve used it for proof of this. And yet, less than a quarter of us floss daily.
“Men, especially, seem to have problems flossing, possibly because they have bigger hands so find it fiddly,” says Sally Goss, lead hygienist at the Harley Street Dental Studio in London.
If you find it a chore, try using interdental sticks or a gadget like the Philips AirFloss Pro, which uses rapid bursts of air and water to effectively remove plaque and trapped food particles. An easier way to remove the gunk between teeth than traditional dental floss, it’s much more fun to use to boot. You can also replace the water with mouthwash for super fresh breath.

2015 Trouser Styles ... 5 Key Men’s Trouser Trends For 2015

2015 Trouser Styles
With spring on the horizon, it’s time to consider your go-to trouser options for the season ahead, get better acquainted with the styles available and, in due course, exchange those skinny jeans for legwear befitting of a man whose finger is pressed firmly on the sartorial pulse.
But with so many trends and updates emerging from London Collections: Men (LC:M) and the European men’s fashion weeks over the past month, where do you start?
Sure, the stuff sent down the runways is set to be big for AW15, but some of us are early adopters and want to get ahead of the pack by pulling on these threads now.
With this in mind, we’ve created this brief guide to the five freshest trouser trends that are set to take off this year.
1. Wide-Legged
Topman Design threw down the gauntlet at last month’s LC:M by sending its models down the runway in 1970s rock-inspired looks, which included exploded kick flares and powerful bell bottoms.
But if the thought of pulling on a pair of lavishly proportioned flares leaves you cold, there is another, more palatable way to tap into the trend: wide-legged cuts.
Championed by luxury labels Marc Jacobs, Raf Simons, and E. Tautz, the wide-legged trouser has been rescued from sartorial obscurity and is set to go mainstream this spring.
When it comes to styling, try playing up to their relaxed nature by dressing them down with a pair of minimal trainers and SS15’s key outerwear silhouette: the bomber jacket.
