Ways To Wear Black : Spring/Summer 2015

Ways To Wear Black: Spring/Summer 2015

Timeless And Classic
Although we’re very much aware that technicolour and pastels are set to be huge trends come summer, that doesn’t mean we all want to step out in dusty pink or sunshine yellow.
Some of us like to keep things timeless and simple, sticking to the darker end of the colour spectrum. And if the French have taught us anything about style over the years, it’s that black clothes look effortlessly cool and sophisticated, no matter whether you’re dressing up or down.
The only problem is, heading out to dinner on a warm summer’s day in a black suit isn’t the most practical choice (and sweat patches aren’t too attractive either). Nor is pulling on a pair of black skinnies for an outdoor music festival in May.
With this in mind, we’re set to showcase five black pieces that will seamlessly transition into spring, while offering advice on how to style each in a modern way.
The Biker Jacket
Nothing says ‘I’m cool’ better than a classic black leather biker jacket. It’s an iconic piece that all men can pull off, and it brings an edge to your personal style that may otherwise be lacking.
While we have seen menswear’s tastemakers teaming their leathers with suiting separates this season, we believe a biker jacket looks best dressed-down.
To do this, team it with a fresh white T-shirt, dark tapered jeans and your favourite smart trainers. James Dean might be turning in his grave at the thought of a biker being worn with sneakers, but that’s how it’s done these days.

Classic Men's Hairstyles : The Quiff

The Classic Quiff
Unlike contemporary takes on the quiff, the classic iteration shows more balance so you’ll need to ask your stylist to keep some length around the back and sides while also maintaining a clean, sharp hairline.
The length at the back and sides can be varied, but it should always be kept shorter than the top to ensure there is a definitive contrast.
Bear in mind that – generally – the longer the hair is, the more time it will take to style. Your stylist needs to keep a lot of length through the top section, which should be perfectly balanced throughout the crown area to help connect the top and sides in a natural way.
Depending on the hair density and length, the style can be cut in a variety of different ways with scissors or clippers:

Spring/Summer Edition : Details that Make a Difference

Switching It Up for Spring Summer
Although ‘the devil’s in the details’ is a mantra to live by year-round, it’s advice all the more worthwhile heeding during the warmer months.
You might be able to put together a solid, Insta-worthy look with a killer jacket or coat during autumn/winter, but as the seasons change and we begin to strip back the layers, it’s important to pay attention to the finer points of your outfits.
These are the details that make all the difference:
‘Mankles’ & No-Show Socks
If we learned anything from our recent analysis of the current state of the ‘mankle’, it’s that ankle-baring is still a wholly stylish move that will help elevate your warm-weather looks.
A flash of flesh from a turned-up, pin-rolled or cropped hem is a summer sartorial signifier nowadays – and it’s also definitely best achieved with the help of some ‘secret’ socks.
These nifty little socklets will stop your soles from stinking and keep your feet free of blisters, while also facilitating on point ankle-baring (i.e. no unsightly bits of fabric peeping above the line of your shoe).
Practical and aesthetically pleasing – when done properly – a bare ankle is definitely a detail that’ll make a difference both to your style and sweat factor this season.
